O rio / The river, Vol. 4
LUÍS ANTERO
IHab125

Initially, the ambient and hypnotic sound produced by Luís Antero presages a trip to a sound record that has as narrative the sounds, history and stories of the region of the mountain range. Thus, in this sequence, the phonographic material becomes, in a certain way, an almost cinematographic record that has as a film the evocation of the past - without ever forgetting the present - and the oral history of the narrators that give life to people again camouflaging them, the characters and protagonists of the plot told. It is an idyllic and beatific sound landscape from the environmental sounds produced from a minimalist to a collective memory, that is, the preservation of a cultural identity and an immaterial heritage related to ethnographic knowledge.

Inherent in all this is the mysticism of Luís Antero that easily translates into romantic hypnotism in which the listener will feel levitating his body and soul. It is an organic record produced poetically to feel and understand the folk culture. Like Cesário Verde -Portuguese poet from the 20th century- who has in his work an enormous visual representation and Parnassian traits that characterize him as a bucolic poet and, at the same time, a visual artist, the sonography of Luís Antero becomes In the art of producing, through sounds, a visual discourse intrinsically linked to its original composition creating, through cultural representation, an art that easily metamorphoses into beautiful and unique synaesthesia.

Therefore, a faithful relationship is established between the self, which represents the present, and the other that symbolizes, therefore, the past tense. In this timeless space, the listener, who is the receiver of the message, is transported to an unknown location and, at the outset, no longer exists.

Luís Antero's work is a kind of hidden light that the listener never possessed and that, wickedly, will wake up in an unknown layer, but nevertheless, magical.
